Pithoragarh, prominently known as ‘Little Kashmir’, is an enamoring town settled in a little valley with enchanting forests all around. Situated at a height of 1645 meters above the sea level, Pithoragarh is also a major historical landmark. During the rule of Chand rulers in Kumaon, Pithoragarh was likewise the powerful centre. Best Places to Visit:

1. Chandak: Located close to Pithoragarh, Chandak is a a hill popularly known for the temple of Manu that is situated on its top. It is a famous for various adventurous spot mainly for hang gliding.

2. Gangolihat: Gangolihat is a place where the ancient myths and cultural folks can still be found. Devoted to Lord Shive, this place is famous for an old Mahakali Temple where Shakti Peeth was established by Shankaracharya.

3. Pithoragarh Fort: In the early 1789, Pithoragarh Fort was built by Gorkhas and is situated outside the Pithoragarh city. The fort at present is not that much good in condition but still attracts many tourist due to its grand appearance and scenic surroundings.

4. Dhwaj temple: Dhwaj Temple at an altitude of 2100 meters above the sea level is amongst the most worshipped hindu shrines in the region. This temple of Lord Shiva and Maa Jayanti is visited by numerous devotees to offers their prayers.

5. Askot Sanctuary: Askot Sanctuary, also popular as Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary, is a wildlife sanctuary differs from 600 meters to 7000 meters above sea level covering a total area of 600 square kilometers. The sanctuary is home to fauna, flora and avi-fauna.

Some other tourist attractions are: Jhulaghat, Thal kedar, Kapileshwar Mahadev etc.
