Sulthan Bathery, centrally situated in the middle of Mysore and Calicut at a height of 930m is currently the biggest town in Wayanad area and is known for its tourism and business activities. Prior known as Ganapathi Vattam, the town was named after the Tipu Sulthan who had a battery set here. In olden days, Sulthan Bathery served as a military post of Tipu Sultan.
