Tawang Hill Station

Tawang is a picturesque hill station situated at an elevation of 3500m above the sea level in the northeastern part of India in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is trusted that, in the early 17th century, Meera Lama suggested this name as Tawang. The hill station is well known for its characteristic excellence which drags the travelers from all around the world. During the medieval times, Tawang was a part of Tibet. Preceding the development of the Tawang religious community, Tawang was generally incorporated by the Monpa individuals as their home. Tawang is additionally known for Buddhist impacts and has one of the greatest religious communities of India.

Tawang Monastery: Tawang Monastery al called “Galden Namgyal Lhatse” is a popular Buddhist Monastery built up back in the year 1860-61 AD by Merak Lama Lodro Gyamtso is the wellspring of the spiritual life of the general population of this district. It is the biggest cloister in India and second biggest on the globe after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. The spot is gone by both inbound and outbound vacationers consistently.

Pankang Teng Tso Lake: There are excellent lakes around Tawang, the most being Pankang Teng Tso Lake is a few kilometers far from enraging horde of township. The quiet water, noiselessly moving mists, earth with its wetness, trilling of winged creatures and warmth is all that one gets while going to Pankang Teng Tso Lake.

Sela Pass: Sela Pass connects Tawang to Tezpur and Guwahati and is the principle street connecting Tawang with the rest of India.  It is situated 13, 714 ft above mean ocean level and has high vital sign.

Monpa Tribe : Tawang is the home of the Monpas which are of Mongoloid descent. There are legends that the Monpas emigrated from Bhutan and Tibet at various times. The tourists come here to visit the culture of Monpas closely and to enjoy the nearby surroundings.

Nuranang: Nuranang or Bong Bong or Jung Falls, the falling waters present an imposing dazzling scenery that people dare to click and carry alongside them. These waterfalls make this hill station even more popular.

Some other great places to visit are: Bap Teng Kang, Shongatsar Lake, Jaswant Garh, Tawang War Memorial, Shungatser Lake alias Madhuri Lake, Gorichen Peak etc.
