Hampi Village Tour
Hampi is a village in northern part of state of Karnataka. It is located within the ruins of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Hampi, presents itself to be an important religious centre which has the Virupaksha Temple and several other monuments and temples which belongs to the old city. This ruined city is built on the banks of Tungabhadra River. This site is enormous historically and architecturally. The detailed mapping of the place abounds with large stones which have been used to make statues of Hindu deities.
Hampi also includes many Hindu Temples, which are still in practice and people use to go and worship over there. Temples which are most notable are:
Hazara Rama Temple: This ruined temple is well known for elaborate art and techniques from the Hindu religion and a huge courtyard well maintained with gardens. This temple is well known for its thousands carvings and inscriptions on the walls and inside the temple which speaks about the story of Ramayana.
Vittala Temple Complex: This temple is perhaps the most famous and well-known temple among the ruins of Hampi. The iconic stone chariot inside this temple which is a symbol of Karnataka Tourism.
The temple has also the famous musical pillars. Some of the britishers checked the pillars by vutting them if something is inside these pillars which makes sound but they got nothing. You will also find the ruined markets on both side along the entry gateway of the temple which were used to sell horses.
