Day 1Jaisalmer Khuri Sightseeing One Day Tour

Arrival Jaisalmer
Meeting and assistance upon arrival as our representatives welcome you and escort you to your car. On arrival, you will be taken to visit:

Jaisalmer Fort:
The golden hued fort is a sentinel to the bleak desertscape from its 80 mts high perch on the hill, housing the entire township within its ramparts. It has an enchanting cow-web of narrow lanes dotted with some lovely haveli’s, three beautifully sculptured Jain Temples of the 12th-15th century A.D. and five interconnected palaces. The fort is approached through four gateways-Akhaiyal, Ganesh Pol, Suraj Pol and Hava Pol.

Gadisagar Tank:
This is a rain water conservation lake built by Maharawal Gadsi in 14th century. It was once the main source of drinking water for the entire town of Jaisalmer. Now it is a tourist spot, there are many small temples and shrines around it. A wide variety of water birds can be seen here especially in winter. This is the most popular point to take photographs of Jaisalmer fort early in the morning when the fort looks golden with the first rays of the Sun.

Later in afternoon, you will be taken for lunch.

Patwon Ki Haveli:
A group of apartments, this is one of the largest and most elaborate of Havelis in Jaisalmer and stands in a narrow lane. It is five storeys high and is extensively carved. A part of this beautiful building is owned by the Department of Archaeology and Museum. There are remnants of some paintings on the walls inside as well as some mirror work. This has been the star attraction of Jaisalmer.

Nathmalji Ki Haveli:
Two architect brothers built it in the 19th century. Interestingly, while one concentrated on the right, the other concentrated on the left and the result is a symphony epitomizing the side-by-side symmetry during construction. Paintings in miniature style monopolize the walls in the interior. Mighty tuskers carved out of yellow sandstone stand guard to the haveli. It is a private property.

Later in the evening you will be taken to visit Khuri Sand Dunes.

Khuri
is situated 40 km southwest of Jaisalmer out in the desert near Pakistan border. It is a peaceful area with houses of mud. The Khuri sand dunes offer you a memorable experience in the land of the Rajputs. Enjoy the ride on camel back and let the place itself take you to its mesmerizing heights. Get closer to the local way of living with a close view of thatched straw roofs, camels, narrow streets and the local bazaar. At the night, organize a campfire with the fellow tourists (if any) and listen to the songs of ‘Kalbeliyas’.
