Introduction:

Papikonda Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in East Godavari, West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh and Khammam District of Telangana, India. This park has a rich variety of unique species of Flora and Fauna. The Park is spread over an area of 591 square kilometers.

History:

Papikonda Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as National Park of India in 1979.

Flora:

Papikond Wildlife Sanctuary flourishes with various flowering plants and Dry deciduous Teak forest with Bamboo, Terminalia, Pterocarpus, Cassias and other species conforming to the Eastern Ghat vegetation. Other plant and tree species found in the park includes Tectona Grandis, Terminalias, Tomentosa, Lagerstroemia Lanceolata, Latifolia, Albizzia Amara, Albizzia Lebbeck. Dendrocalamus Strictus Bambusa Arundinacea.

Fauna:

The richness of wildlife is found in Papikonda Wildlife Sanctuary. The fauna found in this national park is primarily Tigers, Gaurs, Panther and other animals like Spotted Deer, Four Horned Antelope, Sambar, Hyena, Jackals, Sloth Bear, and Muggers.

Best time to visit:

Papikonda Wildlife Sanctuary is open throughout the year. Best time to visit the park is during the months of October to May.
