Introduction:

Rani Jhansi Marine National Park, Andaman and Nicobar is located in Ritchie’s Archipelago, an undisputed eco-tourism hub in Andaman District of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This National Park is spread over an area of 256.14 square kilometers. The national park is known for its coral reefs and marine life.

History:

Rani Jhansi Marine National Park established in 1996.

Flora:

The park also has on display a coral reef, marine life and avifauna.

Fauna:

The park is also famous for crocodiles and dugongs. The central attraction of the Park is the fruit eating bat species, acting as seed dispersers and pollinators.  Apart from the fruit eating bat that the park is famous for crocodiles and dugong are also seen along with other wild life.

Best time to visit:

Best time to visit the park is during the months of December to March. Also visit the surrounding islands like the John Lawrence Island, Henry Lawrence Island and Outram Island.

Getting There:

By Air: The only airport in the Andaman and Nicobar Island is Port Blair, connected with Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. It is almost a 2hr journey and Jet Airways and Kingfisher are the only operators.

Via Sea: Frequent ship services are available for the passengers travelling to Port Blair from Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata, Chennai and back. Every month there are about three to four sailings from Kolkata and Chennai to Port Blair and back, whereas Vishakhapatnam entertains only one sailing in a month. The journey takes about 50 to 60 hours and for two to four days the ship harbours at Port Blair.
