Tharangambadi or Tranquebar, which means ‘village of the dancing waves’, is a quiet seaside hamlet in Tamil Nadu. Today, this place is much talked about for its grand beach-facing Dansborg Fort and the ancient shore temple. The Bungalow on the Beach, Tranquebar is a fine heritage property near the beach and an ideal honeymoon destination in Tamil Nadu. It is a grand colonial mansion with traditional Tamil architecture. The bungalow was acquired by Neemrana Hotels in 2000, and after restoration was opened in 2004, the company also runs two more heritage hotel in the town, Gate House and Nayak House.
About The Property
The Bungalow on the Beach is a colonial building built by the Danish East India Company in the mid eighteenth century. This legacy property was once the place of the Governor of Danish India. The hotel boasts 8 rooms and suites well euipped with all the modern extravagances. The property incorporates two reestablished structures that remain as a tribute to Ove Gedde, the Danish Admiral. Close by is the Velankkani Church, Thirukadayu and an old Jerusalem Church.
