Biligiri Rangana Hill Station

Biligiri Rangana Hills generally called BR Hills ans locally called as Biligiri Rangana Betta, “betta” signifies “hill” in Kannada is circumscribed in the middle of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and an ideal getaway to experience wildlife. BR Hills is a thick and dense hill range as it is home to a lesser-known wildlife sanctuary. Located at 5,091 feet above sea level, these hills are acclaimed for the antiquated temple on top of the hills.

Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple: Situated on the highest peak of the hill range, Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple is devoted to Lord Ranganatha or Lord Venkatesha and the only temple in the country where Lord Ranganatha is depicted in a standing position. The Annual Car celebration of the god held amid “Vaishakha “in the month of April, is acclaimed in the area and attracts several devotees and vacationers from far away places.

Dodda Sampige Mara: Dodda Sampige Mara, signifying ‘Big Champak Tree’ in English, is thought to be over 2000 years of age. One of the must-visits while you are on a visit to BR Hill is this one of a kind site.

BR Hills Wildlife Sanctuary: BR Hills Wildlife Sanctuary covered with rich deciduous forests is located at an altitude of 5.091 ft over the sea level is home to huge number of Asian Elephants and tigers in southern India. The sanctuary derives its name Biligiri either from the white rock face or the white mist and the silver mists that cover these grandiose hills for a larger part of the year.
