In less that 24 hours from my first email inquiry, Mr. Anil Sinha, Managing Director of Four Wheel Drive India, sent a response suggesting a video call to talk about the type of trip my husband and I were interested in and discuss the many options available. Mr. Anil was very prompt and attentive to any questions I had and presented options to make our trip even more memorable.

When we arrived in India, Mr. Anil met us at the airport - even though our plane didn't arrive until 2:00 in the morning - to welcome us to India and to introduce us to our driver. He also gave us a personalized folder with all of our hotel vouchers, plane tickets, daily itinerary, a local mobile phone for contacting our driver, and the Four Wheel Drive India main office, and preloaded with emergency contact numbers.

During our trip, Mr. Anil sent several WhatsApp messages to me asking if we enjoyed the day and the sites. He kept a personal eye on our progress, making sure everything was well organized and smooth.

The second most important thing you can arrange on a journey like this is a private car and driver - not just any driver, but one who is personable, caring - and most of all - a very good driver! Mr. Anil teamed us up with his best driver ever - Devendra Thakur. Mr. Devendra has been a professional driver for twenty years. He is an excellent driver - and a lot of fun to be with, a very important quality during a two week driving tour! By the end of the trip, we felt like we'd met a friend for life.

Mr Sinha, the owner, and Pradeep, our driver, met us in Delhi and we spent a week touring the Golden Triangle. I can't say enough good things about this company. Our hotels were exactly what we wanted (authentic but good for families), the tour guides were excellent, and our driver Pradeep was amazing. This kind man made sure we got everywhere safely, gave us tips and tricks and made our tween so comfortable. We rented a car with driver for a 11 days trip to Agra and Rajasthan after checking... read more different companies. One company was also recommended to us by friends. I suppose they all provide the same type of service but at the end we chose Four Wheels for two reasons: the price was better but also the communication with the manager Anil was very smooth and precise. This impression was confirmed also when we met him in person.

Our driver Devendra came to pick us from the airport and took good care of us during the entire journey.
He was always arriving ahead of time and driving carefully. He also provided us with a local phone to communicate with him, make local calls and use it as Wi-Fi hotspot. As this was our first experience together with a driver for such a long time we were a bit worried, but everything went very well and it was a pleasure to share the car with a discrete and intelligent person.

We were also offered additional services that we didn’t try because we preferred to book the hotels ourselves and decide on the spot. However, whatever you may want to do, they can arrange for that (cooking classes, camel trips, henna, massages, etc) and our driver was anyway helpful and always willing to advise us.
We also appreciated that he didn’t push us to go to shopping places for tourists as we explained that we didn’t like them.

Finally, a little suggestion: we noticed that all tourist cars stop more or less in the same restaurants on the road. This happens for two reasons: the drivers don’t want their clients to get sick in dodgy places and also these touristic restaurants provide a free meal for the driver. This is absolutely fair and normal. However, these restaurants tend to be more expensive but the quality is not necessarily better. Our advise is to tell to your driver to take you to good ‘non touristic’ restaurants and invite him to eat with you (and pay for him, of course). You will eat better, discover new local dishes, and it will also cost you less.

  Highly recommend this company for travel in Rajasthan (and around India). We contacted Mr Sinha to arrange a driver to take us from Alila Fort Bishangarh to Jaipur city. He... read more was one of the most prompt, efficient and reasonable people we contacted and we immediately booked a car through him. We were picked up in a clean and well maintained car. The driver, Ravi, made the experience exceptionally positive for us. He was friendly and very well informed about the best spots around Jaipur. He was rather personable and talked to us about the city life, his family and what they experienced during the pandemic. He shared fond stories of his experiences with other guests and was very respectful and grateful for every one of them.

On the way from Bishangarh to Jaipur, Ravi took us to a local supplier for copper ware when he heard what we were looking to buy. He suggested a really good restaurant for authentic rajasthani Lal Maas and Junglee Maas (Handi) and even offered to wait for us at our hotel while we dropped our luggage and freshened up so he could take us there himself. It was rather late at this point so we didn’t take him up on the offer so he could go home to his wife. He was very hospitable and offered to take us around Jaipur during our stay. While we were there for a wedding and couldn’t do that, we will definitely like to travel around Rajasthan with Ravi in the future.

Any driver can take you from Place A to Place B but a good driver (like Ravi) really makes the journey enjoyable and memorable.

Our driver Rames was reliable driver in India, we have visited Jaipur, Pushkar, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Agra and Delhi. He took care of us at all the time, we chose to make our own itinerary day by day and he responded to our all our requests immediately.
