The city of Agra is situated on the river banks of the river Yamuna and is said to be the 19th most populous city in India. The city was even mentioned in the Epic Mahabharata as Agrevana which means ‘the border of the forest’. It is said in stories that the city was founded by Raja Badal Singh. It includes the Moti masjid, Diwan-e-khas which are halls for public and private audiences, Jahangir’s palace, Shish Mahal, and many more notable buildings. The Fort was once renovated by Shah Jahan and converted into a palace.
Fatehpur Sikri is another place that should not be missed when you go to Agra which was again built by Akbar when he had moved his capital.
