Bara Bhangal Trek

Bara Bangal Trek – 14 Nights and 15 Days

Day 1: Arrival Chandigarh and Drive to Manali

Upon landing, you will be heartily welcomed by our representatives who will assist you to transfer to the hotel in Manali. On arrival, check in at the hotel and enjoy your day at leisure.

Day 2: Trek to Lama Dugh

The trek to Bara Bhangal will be considerably challenging with high-altitude climbing. After an early breakfast, start the trek to Lama Dugh. Follow the trail that passes through the thick forests and picturesque meadows. The climb goes on till we arrive at a point from where we get clear views of different faces of Indrasan, Deo Tibba, and peaks of Bara Shigri glacier. After about 2-3 hours, the path will turn right, and a sharp ascent will lead us through a ridge to the Lama Dugh meadow which is a lovely meadow ringed by Maple, spruce, and Oak while stands of Silver Birch are further up in the Hillside.

Day 3: Drive to Taluka

Today, follow a lofty ascent through the ridge beneath Tanpari Tibba. Enjoy a continuous view north towards the Solang and Rohtang Valleys. the climbs are long, steady, and invigorating, with stunning view opening crosswise over to the Hamta Valley and Deo Tibba. Following a couple of hours of trekking, we come to the most elevated point of the ridge, from that point, the trail heads south over a series of verdant ridges. The next part of the trail is a constant descent until the campground. A long descent follows, reaching a valley and a noticeable side of the trail.  Starting here, a progressive navigation of 2-3 km leads from a little oak forest to the knoll referred to locally as Riyali.

Day 4: Trek to Kalihani Pass Base

Let’s begin the day with some stretching exercises in order to avoid muscular pain. Initially follow the trail by a steep descent to a stream. After crossing the stream, a good few hours of scenic uphill trek will take us to the base of Kalihani Pass. Enjoy the enchanting views of Deo Tibba and Indrasan peaks from the campsite.

Day 5: Trek to Devi ki Marhi via Kalihani Pass

After a morning nutritious Breakfast, start the longest day of the entire Bara Bhangal Trek. Upon reaching the Pass, we will get amused by the astounding views of Pir Panjal and the Dhauladhar ranges. Capture some beautiful photographs and then take a descent along a glacier. On the route, we will pass four charming snow-capped lakes. After a few hours of the most rewarding journey, we finally reach 12361 feet high Devi Ki Marhi campsite.

Day 6: Trek to Dal Marhi

The day’s trek mostly involved walking beside the river and crossing moraines every now and then. After crossing the Kalihani Nullah, descends into the oak and birch forests followed by a steep but short climb that will lead us to the campsite of Dal Marhi.

Day 7: Trek to Bara Bhangal

Today is the most rewarding day for all of us as today we finally reach Bara Bhangal. The day’s hike will start with a steep ascent but was mostly downhill for the rest of the day.  Initially, we will tread along the Ravi River, and then travel through a forest of deodars before a steep climb brings us to our campsite.

Day 8: Bara Bhangal

Today is a well-deserved rest day!! Explore the village and surrounding areas.

Day 9: Trek to Mardh

After spending the previous day at leisure, today we start climbing towards the next big pass, Thamsar. Firstly we cross the Ravi River and then ascend the trail to the right of the waterfall before crossing the river to a series of meadows that will lead us to Madh.

Day 10: Trek to Plachak via Thamsar Pass

Today we walk on the rocky path along the Thamsar Glacier till we reach the summit of the approximately 16000-feet high Thamsar Pass. From the top of Thamsar, we will get our first glimpse of the lush Kangra Valley. On the other side of the pass, it’s a steep, long descent till we reach the campsite at Plachak, well below the tree line.

Day 11: Trek to Rajgundha

The trek today will be reasonably an easy one. After an early breakfast, start the trek to Rajgundha by following the trail through pine forests with many mountain streams. The valley widens and you get great views of the open Kangra valley. The campsite is just ahead of the village Rajgundha.

Day 12: Trek to Billing and Drive to Dharamshala

Today is the last day of the Bara Bhangal trek. After nutritious Breakfast, walk down to Bir, from where our chauffeur picks you up and takes you at your pre-booked hotel in Dharamshala. Check into the hotel upon reaching and Relax.

Day 13: Dharamshala

After a morning leisurely Breakfast, go local sightseeing. Today, you will be visiting Norbulingka Institute, the war memorial,  Dalai Lama Temple,  Kangra Art Museum, and Cricket Stadium.

The evening is free for shopping. Overnight at Hotel in Dharamshala

Day 14: Drive to Chandigarh

In the morning after a sumptuous Breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Chandigarh.  Check into the hotel upon reaching and enjoy your leisurely refreshments.

Later in the day, go boating at Sukhna Lake.

Day 15: Explore Chandigarh and Transfer to Airport

After a morning scrumptious Breakfast, head out to visit Rose Garden and Rock Garden. Thereafter, you will be transferred at Chandigarh Airport to catch your flight back Home.
