Bhutan Snowman Trek Tour – 31 Nights and 32 Days

Day 1: ARRIVAL PARO

Upon arrival, our team member welcomes you and after a brief introduction to the tour, assists you to transfer to the hotel. Check into the hotel once you reach there. After refreshment, rest for some time before heading to visit Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This beautiful site is one of the holiest religious sites in Bhutan. The view up from here is a feast for the eyes and the temples here provide peace of mind.

Later, return back to the hotel and take advantage of the day at its best.

Supper and Night remain at the hotel.

Day 2: PARO

After morning sumptuous breakfast, head out to explore the city. Today, we will show you the famous Rinpung Dzong, Kichu Lhakhang, and the National Museum of Bhutan.

The rest of the day is for relaxation as the next few days will be a bit hectic.

Day 3: PARO – SHANA(starting of Trek)

Today, after early morning breakfast, check out from the hotel and depart for Drukgyal Dzong which serves as the initial step of ‘Bhutan Snowman Trekking’. Upon reaching, start the trek toward Shana. Your enthusiasm will take you to your today’s goal faster. The more you are enthusiastic, the sooner you will reach your destination. In the beginning, follow the trail along the River Paro. On the way, you will see a few local farmhouses (traditional village homes), sprawling yards, and little picturesque villages. The enchanting view of Mount Jhomolhari will make this journey of yours a bit easy. And after crossing a couple of suspension bridges, you will reach Shana.

Upon reaching, set up your camp which will be your home for today.

Day 4: SHANA – THANGTHANGKA

After early breakfast at your camp, start for Thangthangka. Initially, follow the river amidst a densely forested region. On the route, you will come across an intersection point from where another way drives north over the Tremo La to Tibet. Upon reaching today’s campsite, relax and enjoy your dinner leisurely.

Day 5: THANGTHANGKA – JANGOTHANG

After morning breakfast, begin for Jangothang. Initially, follow the trail through a thick forest area, and then you will reach an Army Post from where the journey ahead is quite beautiful as a gradual climb uphill will take you to a scenic valley. On the way, you will see the magnificent view of Mount Jhomolhari. After passing Tegethang which is the winter home of yak herdsmen, you will reach your today’s destination. Upon reaching Jangothang, set up your camp and get retired for the rest of the day.

Day 6: JANGOTHANG

The day is for rest! Enjoy the day at its best by enjoying the leisurely activities or you may opt to go hiking around the region. Here, you can explore the old fortress which now is in ruin condition. This old fortress was used to protect Bhutan from Tibetan invasions.

Day 7: JANGOTHANG – LINGSHI

In the morning after an early breakfast, start the trek to Lingshi. In the beginning, follow the trail through ridges from where the view of Mount Jhomolhari, Jitchu Drake, Tsheri Kang, and Tiger is a sight to behold. On continuing the journey, you will reach Nyile La Pass by a gradual uphill climb of a few hours. After this, a steep descent will take you to a beautiful circular hut which will be our camping site for the day.

Day 8: LINGSHI – CHEBISA

This is an easy day of the entire ‘Snowman Trek’ as today the destination is closer. After breakfast at the camp, start for Chebisa. A few hours of both uphill and downhill trek through the scenic settlement of Goyul village will take you to Chebisa. Today’s campsite is marked with a huge waterfall ‘Chebisa’ which lies in the delightful Chebisa village. Set up your camp after reaching.

Day 9: CHEBISA – SHOMUTHANG

In the morning after a wholesome breakfast, leave for Shomuthang which is the most picturesque valley in ‘Snowman Trek’. In the beginning, there will a steep uphill climb. On the route, you will see bearded vultures and griffons. From here, the path traverses to Gombu La Pass and finally, you reach your today’s campsite by making your way through a dense forest of rhododendrons. Upon reaching, set up your camp and enjoy the alluring views all around.

Day 10: SHOMUTHANG – ROBLUTHANG

On this day, start early after breakfast at the camp. Initially, a moderate climb of a few hours will take you to Jarila Pass. The view of Mount Kang Bum and Mount Gangchenta along the way is a feast for the eyes. The journey ahead of the pass is quite easy as there is a downhill trek of the next few hours to Tsharijathang Valley. Here, you will get pleased by seeing the herds of the National Animal, Takin. Lastly, after crossing a knee-deep river will take you to your today’s campsite of Robluthang. Upon reaching, set up your camp and enjoy the day leisurely.

Day 11: ROBLUTHANG – LEMITHANG

It is the hardest day of the entire ‘Snowman Trek’ as today you have to reach Sinche La which is the highest point. Initially, a steep ascent uphill will take you to Sinche La Pass which offers an amazing view of Mount Tiger. After crossing the Pass, a gradual descent through the rocky trails and moraines will lead you to Limithang which is a small settlement in the Laya district. Today’s campsite is near a beautiful riverbank.

Day 12: LEMITHANG – LAYA

After breakfast at your campsite, depart for Laya. Follow the trail along the river which is one of the tributaries of river Mo Chu. The trail then leads you to the village of Laya through a forest of Silver fir and Rhododendrons. Upon reaching, set up your camp and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains.

Day 13: LAYA

The day is for rest! Today, you can spend the day exploring the village which is enveloped with snow-clad mountain peaks.

Day 14: LAYA – RODUPHU

After breakfast at the cam, start for Rodolfo. A few hours of uphill and downhill trek will lead you to your today’s goal. In the beginning, it is comparatively an easy downhill trek to Tashi Makhang Army Camp marked with a check-post. After the check-post, a steep uphill ascent through dense forests and the muddy trail will take you to your today’s target. Upon reaching, set up your camp and spend the day peacefully. On a clear, the view of the Tsenda Gang group of mountains is a feast for the eyes.

Day 15: RODUPHU – NARETHANG

In the morning after a sumptuous breakfast, start trekking to Narethang. In the beginning, a mix of gradual and steep climbs through dwarf Rhododendron bushes will take you to Tsemo La Pass. From the Pass, the view of Gangla Karchung, Jitchu Drake, and Jhomolhari offers an unforgettable experience. A gradual descent beneath the Pass then finally leads you to Narethang which will be your camping site for the day.

Day 16: NARETHANG – TARINA

Get ready for the day of moderate hiking as soon as possible. After breakfast at the camp, begin the trek towards Tarina Valley. In the beginning, there are gradual two to three hours of uphill climb up to the Karakachu La Pass. Enjoy the stunning view of Jejekangphu, Karakachu, Tsenda Gang, and Teri Kang from the pass. And then there are another three to four hours of long steep downhill descent which in turn will take you to Tarina Valley. From here, the next few hours of easy walking will take you to your today’s campsite. Upon reaching, set up your camp and enjoy the alluring view all around in the lap of nature.

Day 17: TARINA – WOCHE

After the days of long hiking, enjoy this day of short trekking. After some nutritious breakfast at the camp, leave for Woche. Initially, follow the trail along the river, and then a steep uphill climb of a few hours will take you to today’s campsite. Upon reaching, set up your camp and enjoy the day leisurely.

Day 18: WOCHE – LHEDI

This morning after an early healthy breakfast, begin for Lhedi. In the first part, follow the trail through the dense forest of Juniper and then after crossing the river, you get to see the magnificent view of Jejekangphu. In the middle part, a steep climb of a few hours will take you to Yumtso and Setso lakes and then after crossing these two lakes, you will reach at Kesha La Pass. In the third part, a downhill descent of the next few hours toward the village of Tega and then a short steep uphill climb will take you to today’s campsite at Lhedi.

Day 19: LHEDI – THANZA

After morning sumptuous breakfast at the camp, leave for Thanza. At the beginning of the day, follow the trail along the Po Chu River through the Lhedi village, and then an uphill climb of a few 30 to 45 minutes will take you to Chozo Dzong. And then, a gradual trek over the next few hours will lead you to Dyotta and Thanza villages which will be our camping sites for the day. Upon reaching, after setting up the camp, you are free to enjoy the scenic view of Mount Table and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Day 20: THANZA

The day is well deserved for relaxation. Sit back at your campsite and enjoy the day with your own independent activities. One can also opt to go and explore the village.

Day 21: THANZA – TSHORIM

Today after breakfast, begin the trek towards Tshorim. In the initial part of the day, climb up to reach the ridge to get the panoramic view of Table Mountain and the Thanza Valley below. And then, after crossing the ridge, you will come across a small scenic valley by following a stream flowing through it. Enjoy the view of snow-capped mountain peaks on the way. After that, we’ll move up out of the valley, crossing some little ridges to reach our campsite at Tshorim.

Day 22: TSHORIM – GANGKAR PUENSUM BASE CAMP

The day begins with a short ascent up to Tshorim Lake. We’ll stroll around one side of the lake and enjoy the magnificent view of the all-encompassing perspective of the Gophu La ranges. The final stretch up to Gophu La Pass is short. After the Pass, there is a gradual walk of the next few hours along the ridge which will lead you to today’s base camp near Sha Chu where you will set up your camp for the day. The astounding view of Gangkar Puensum will make your day even better.

Day 23: GANGKHAR PUENSUM – GESHE WOMA

After morning wholesome breakfast, start for Geshe Woma. Today, follow the trail along the river Sha Chu and then a gradual descent downward will take you to Geshe Woma. Upon reaching, set up your camp and spend the day leisurely.

Supper and Night remain at the camp.

Day 24: GESHE WOMA – WARATHANG

After breakfast, leave for Warathang. In the beginning, the trail continues to proceed with the Sha Chu River for a few hours until a steep climb to Saka La Pass. After the Pass, another short climb of the few next hours will take you to Warathang from where you will see small lakes spreading beneath towering mountain crests. Upon reaching, set up your camp.

Day 25: WARATHANG – DHUR TSACHU

After breakfast at the camp, begin the trek to Dhur Tsachu. Initially, a short uphill climb of a few hours will lead you to Juji La Pass. From the Pass, follow the trail through the forests of Rhododendrons, conifer, and junipers towards the riverside. After crossing the bridge, another uphill climb will take you to today’s campsite at Dhur Tsachu hot spring.

Day 26: DHUR TSACHU – TSHOCHENCHEN

From the spring, it is a long consistent journey with an awesome perspective of the mountains in Lunana. In the long run the ground levels out and we’ll see grazing of yaks on the green fields, a few beautiful deep blue lakes, and yak herders’ camps.

Day 27: TSHOCHENCHEN – DHUR – BUMTHANG (end of trek)

On your final day of Snowman Trek, leave for Dhur after breakfast at the camp. Start early to reach your final destination of the day at Bhumthang before dark. In the initial part of the day, follow the trail along the Chamkhar Chu with a few gradual ascents and descends. Upon reaching Dhur village, relax and celebrate the successful summit of Snowman Trek with your accompanying guide and friends. From here, catch a bus heading towards Bhumthang.  Upon reaching, check in at the hotel and relax.

Day 28: BHUMTHANG

This morning after a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we drive you to visit Jakar Dzong, Tamshing Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang and Ura Yakchoe.

Day 29: BHUMTHANG – GANGTEY

After breakfast in the morning, check out and proceed further to Gangtey. Upon reaching, check into the hotel and relax. After refreshments, we ride you to Black Necked Crane Information Center and Gangtey Goempa.

Day 30: GANGTEY – THIMPHU

In the morning after a nutritious breakfast at the hotel, check out and head further to Thimphu. Drive to visit Tamchong Lhakhang Iron Bridge on the way. Upon reaching, after checking into the hotel, head on to visit Thimphu Dzong, National Memorial Chorten, Takin Sanctuary, Zilukha Nunnery, Buddha Dordenma Statue, and the National Zoo.

Day 31: THIMPHU – PARO

After morning wholesome breakfast at the hotel, check out and drive to Paro. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Rest a while before heading on to explore the Traditional Bhutanese Farm House known for its beautiful appearance. Meet the local farmers and understand their way of lifestyle. Later in the day, return back to the hotel and enjoy your evening leisurely.

Day 32: DEPARTURE

Today, after the farewell ceremony with our delegates, our chauffeur will transfer you to Paro Airport to catch a flight towards your onward destination.
