Gujarat and Rajastha Textile and Tribal Tour – 26 Nights and 27 Days

Day 1: Mumbai Arrival

Upon landing at Mumbai Airport, you will be warmly received by our representatives. After briefing of the tour, we will assist you to transfer at your pre-booked hotel. Check into the hotel upon reaching and realx. After refreshments, take a voyage through Shivaji Park, Mini Kashmir, Nehru Science Centre, Aarey Milk Colony, and Film City.

Day 2: Mumbai

After morning sumptuous Breakfast at the hotel, leave for Mumbai sightseeing tour. Visit Gateway of India, Elephanta Caves, Prince of Wales Museum, Gandhi Memorial Museum, Nehru Planetarium, Kena Market Masjid, BandraWorli Sea Link, Hanging Garden, Taraporewala Aquarium and Haji Ali.

Day 3: Mumbai

In the morning after sumptuous Breakfast, go for a visit to Raymond Mills. Also visit Mafatlal Textile Factory. Post lunch, we will take you to visit Century Textile Mills.

Evening is free to stroll around Marine Drive and for long walks along Juhu Beach shoreline.

Day 4: Fly to Bhuj and Drive to Mandavi

Today, you will be assisted to transfer at Mumbai Airport to catch flight to Bhuj. Upon landing, our chauffeur meets you and takes you at your pre-booked hotel in Mandavi. On the way to Mandavi, make a halt in Dhaneti to visit the Tirth Temple. Also see the embroidery work of the Ahir community. Thereafter resume the drive to Mandavi, and check into the hotel upon reaching.

Enjoy the view of setting sun over the Arabian Sea, and appreciate the extremely unique birdlife on the quiet, perfect and private shoreline at Mandavi.

Day 5: Mundra (Mandavi excursion)

In the morning after lavish Breakfast, head out for a day outing to Mundra. Here, you will visit conventional tie and dyeing process called bandhani. Gharchoda, a conventional red wedding sari, is a definitive in bandhani unpredictability, and regularly loved as a family treasure.

Later the day, drive back to Mandavi and visit Vijay Vilas Palace. At night, visit wooden boats made by hand. Appreciate a stroll along the Rukmavati River.

Day 6: Drive to Bhuj

In the morning after Breakfast, check-out from the hotel and proceed to Bhuj. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival and spend your day leisurely in stroling around remarkable craft markets famous for textiles, pottery, woodwork, leather goods, metalwork, and adornments.

Day 7: Bhuj

After breakfast at leisure, you will get transferred at an award-winning non-profit that has grassroots beginnings in this area followed by an exclusive tour of their campus, with guided talk on 16 different styles of embroidery.

After the tour, take in the ancient technique of Bhujodi weaving, where the Vankar community weaves beautiful woolen shawls and blanket.

Day 8: Drive to Hodka

After morning wholesome Breakfast, check-out from the hotel and leave for Hodka. Check-in at the hotel upon reaching and Relax. After refreshment, head out to visit one or two of the 40 Bani villages that make up the unique Banni community. Bani villages are acclaimed for its Embroidery Work, for example, Muvta weaving, Bavalia weaving, Sindhi weaving, Abari weaving, Soof weaving, and Ahir weaving. Hodko town in Banni is renowned for Meghwal weaving and leather work. In Banni area the embroidery work is also done on footwears, handbags, belts, wallets etc.

Day 9: Drive to Dasada via Bhuj en-route visit Ajrakhpur and Dhamdka

After an early morning wholesome Breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Dasada. On the route, you will be taken to visit the villages of Ajrakhpur and Dhamadka where we will see traditional ajrakh block printing using natural dyes.

After the visit, resume the jourmey to Dasada and check into the hotel upon reaching. Refresh yourself and then head out to visit Kharapat Rabari community where Embroidery, Beadwork and weaving done by the women. Also take a stroll around local Mir market on Camel Cart.

Day 10: Drive to Ahmedabad

In the morning after Breakfast, continue for a meeting with one of the world’s only three families who maintain the ancient procedure of double ikat weaving in which warp and weft are creatively tie-dyed independently and woven into silk of unmatched radiance. Likewise see weaving of Mashru which is an rich blend of cotton and silk. From that point, drive to visit Sun Temple at Modhera followed by the visit to Stepwell, Rani Ki Vav.

Post Lunch, start for Ahmedabad. Check into the hotel upon reaching and spend the rest of your day at some recreational activities.

Day 11: Ahmedabad

After morning leisurely Breakfast at the hotel, drive to visit the local handicraft and textile markets where you will see different artifacts of block printing, Tye and Dye, Pichwari and other forms of textile. Afterwards, take a visit to Sarkhej Roza, ISKON Temple, Sidi Sayyid Mosque and Huteesing Temple.

Day 12: Ahmedabad

In the morning after Breakfast, drive to visit Calico Museum, which houses an extraordinary collection of rare artifacts, exclusive textiles, and fabric paintings followed by a visit to two innovative buildings outlined by Le Corbusier, the Mill Owner’s Association and Sarabhai House (entry permitting). Post Lunch, take an outing visit to Adalaj Vav, the finest stepwell in Gujarat. From there on, visit Self Employed Women Association to meet artworks ladies working at textile outlet.

Day 13: Ahmedabad

In the morning after delectable Breakfast, take a ride to visit Sabarmati Ashram. Thereafter, visit Kalam Khush, a high quality paper making plant built up by the Gandhi ashram in 1956. Post Lunch, visit to Ahmedabad’s well known kite makers and one of only a handful couple of families that still practice Mata-niPachedi, or custom fabric painting.

Day 14: Ahmedabad

After morning Breakfast, drive to visit Sharyas Folk Museum. Afternoon is free to visit Handicraft & Handloom Bazaar (Law Garden). In the evening, visit Sat Chit Anand Show at Akshardham Temple.

Day 15: Drive to Udaipur

After morning wholesome Breakfast, check-out from the hotel and start for Udaipur. Upon arrival, Check-in at the Hotel and relax. After a while, head out for Udaipur sightseeing. Visit City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Gulab Bagh, Monsoon Palace, Fatehsagar Lake, and Saheliyon ki Bari.

In the evening, go for boat ride at Lake Pichola and enjoy the splendid view of sunrise.

Day 16: Udaipur

After morning wholesome Breakfast at the hotel, visit to master miniature painting artist. Also visit Puppet museum and local handicraft centre known as “SHILPGRAM”. Afterwards, you are free to explore its colourful markets exhibiting batik prints.

Day 17: Udaipur

After morning Breakfast, visit to master miniature painting artist. In the evening you are free to take cooking class that will going to be held by Mrs. Shashi. Learn about Indian cooking and enjoy your day at its best.

Day 18: Udaipur

After morning sumptuous Breakfast at the hotel, take a visit to Sadhna Emporium. Later visit the Bazaar in the old city. If time allows, you will be taken to visit Ravla Khempur.

Day 19: Drive to Jodhpur en-route visit Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh

In the morning after Breakfast, check-out and proceed furhter to Jodhpur. On the route, take a short trip to visit Ranakpur Jain Temple and Kumbhalgarh Fort. Check into the hotel upon reaching and relax.

Day 20: Bishnoi Villages (Jodhpur excursion)

In the morning after leisurely Breakfast at the inn, drive to explore the Bishnoi villages to experience the village life. This region is renowned for their high quality carpets, visit a close-by town to see them. Later the day, drive back to Jodhpur and after that visit Sunder Rang, a nearby NGO saving the rich crafted works of Rajasthan and a source of income for the ladies who make them.

Day 21: Jodhpur

In the morning after luscious Breakfast, head out for a guided tour to visit the blue part of the city. Visit Mehrangarh fort, Jaswant Thada (cenotaphs) and Umaid Bhawan Palace. In the early evening, take a touring of Thar Desert on camel’s back. Afterwards, you will be taken at Shimbhali Boutique (NGO that sells the handicrafts items made by the graduate students of the sewing school).

If time allows, we will go at Clock Tower Shopping Bazaar. Overnight stay at Hotel in Jodhpur.

Day 22: Drive to Pushkar

In the morning after Breakfast, check-out from the Hotel and leave for Pushkar. Check-in at the hotel upon reaching. After refreshments, head out to visit Brahma Temple, Savitri Temple, and Pushkar Sarovar. Participate in the evening aarti and puja at the bathing ghats.

Day 23: Drive to Jaipur

In the morning after scrumptius Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and leave for Jaipur. Check into the hotel upon arrival and spend your day leisurely in exploring the colorful and vibrant local markets of Jaipur which is as follow and known for its unique Jaipuri style of items.

Johari Bazar: This market is acclaimed for its solely designed jewellery and creatively colored tie-dye sarees. You will discover various jewelery stores on the two paths joining the primary street – Gopalji ka Rasta and Haldion ka Rasta.

Tripolia Bazar and Chaura Rasta: You can shop here for textiles, utensils, trinkets, and ironware. You can also see the artisans at work, venture into the side paths.

Bapu Bazaar and Nehru Bazaar: Here you can buy textiles, local perfumes, handicraft items, jaipuri footwears, and other shoes made of camel skin.

Mirza Ismial Road (MI. Street): The wide MI Road houses a large number of emporia offering an assortment of good ranging from gems and metal work to textile, to blue pottery, to woodwork, and so forth. These shops stock an extensive assortment of goods to fulfill the visitors’ needs.

Day 24: Jaipur

In the morning after Breakfast at the Hotel, proceed onto a guided tour of the Amber Fort on Elephant’s Back. Thereafter, drive to visit the famous Bridgitte Singh’s workshop. After the visit, go for block printing classes at Kunji Bihari workshop in Bagru. Also visit Two Sister Workshop. If time permits, we feel glad to take you at Kerala Ayurveda Kendra.

Evening is free to enjoy a grand rajasthani feast at Chokhi Dhani. Overnight stay at Hotel in Jaipur.

Day 25: Jaipur

In the morning after wholesome Breakfast, head out for half day workshop on block printing. Later visit to handmade paper factory. Thereafter, take a visit to antique shop (a wholesale one) for old textiles and jewelry.

Post Lunch, go for local sightseeing tour where you will be visiting City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Birla Temple.

Day 26: Jaipur

In the morning after leisurely breakfast, take a short drive to Kaladera to visit the creative activity of this little village. On reaching, go for a meeting with a conventional block printing family called Chippas. Attend a block printing workshop and find out about the old procedure of resist block imprinting. In this method of block printing, fabric are hindered with a gluten resist, and after that colored in natural dyes.

Evening is free for village walk and to see the making of lac bangles, customary dhagas, and bedcovers. Later at night, drive back to the hotel and relax.

Day 27: Departure

Today, you will be transferred at Jaipur Airport to catch flight back to home.
