Mollem National Park
Mollem National Park is located in Sanguem taluk in Goa close to the border with Karnataka.. Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park is spread over an area of 240 square kilometers.
The park was earlier known as Mollem game sanctuary. After then in 1969 the Government declared it as a Wildlife Sanctuary and was renamed as Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary. The core area of the sanctuary spread over 107 sq km was named Mollem National Park in 1978. Since then the national park is called Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park.
Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park is rich in vegetation. It has 722 species of flowering plants. Flora of the BMSMN include Terminalia, Lagerstroemia, Xylia and Dalbergia in its evergreen forests. The scenic view and beauty of this Park is endless.
Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park is haven for migrating bird species. The fauna of the area comprises different species of mammals, birds, reptiles and reptiles. Wild mammals recorded in this dense forest have deer, langurs, sloth bears, bisons, leopard cats, panthers and more. Birds, butterflies and wild orchids flourish too.
Best time to visit:
Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park is open throughout the year. Best time to visit the park is during the months of November to March.
Visitors are advised to get in touch with officials of the sanctuary for complete information entry timings and fee. Usually the Park remains open in between 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
