Nehru Zoological Park

Introduction:

Nehru Zoological Park or Hyderabad Park or Zoo Park is situated in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This park has a rich variety of unique species of Flora and Fauna. The Park is spread over an area of 380 acres of land and is managed by the Forest Department of Government of Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad zoo also runs different safari trips every day, such as Lion Safari, Tiger Safari, Bear Safari, and Butterfly Safari.

History:

Nehru Zoological Park is the biggest Zoo in the Country as well as in Asia and was declared as National Park of India on 26 October 1959. Nehru Zoological Park is named after first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. On 6th October 1963 was the day Nehru Zoological Park opened up for normal people.

Animals and exhibits

The richness of wildlife is found in Nehru Zoological Park. Nehru Zoological Park have around 1,500 species of birds, animals and reptiles like Indian Rhino, Asiatic lion, Bengal Tiger, Panther, Gaur, India Elephant, Slender Loris, Python, Deer, antelopes and birds. Animals here are kept in relatively open enclosures unlike other zoos.
Nehru Zoological Park exhibit includes fruits bats, slender loris, slow loris, civets, leopards, hedgehogs, barn owls, mottled wood owls, fishing owls and great horned owls. There is also an aquarium, dino park, butterfly park and tortoise house.

Attractions:

The key attraction of this Park is safaris including tiger safari, lion safari and bear safari. Mini train ride and elephant ride are fun for kids. Special educational shows and feeding sessions scheduled inside the Zoo every day.  Other attractions include a natural history museum.

Timings and Fee:

Visitors are advised to get in touch with officials of the Park for complete information entry timings and fee. Zoo hours vary by season, and the zoo is closed on Mondays. Usually this Park remains open from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm.
