Vadodara was formerly called “Baroda” and it is said to be the third most populated city in the state of Gujarat, India. This is one city amongst the four places which are populated by up to 1 million. All the historical and also archaeological findings will help you go back up to the 9th century when this place was a very small town that was called Ankottaka. This is located on the right of the bank of the river Vishvamitri. This was also known to be the very famous center for the Jains and for Jainism too in the 5th and 6th century AD. “Nazarbaug Palace” was the Gaekwad Royal Palace in this city. Nazarbagh Palace was built in the year 1721. This place has solid gold and also silver guns, and each of these barrels weighs almost over 100 kg. They also have a Glass Palace which is called the Sheesh Mahal.
Makarpura Palace built by Maharaja Khende Rao in 1870, was designed in the Italian style and is also worth taking a look at. The palace is now being used as a training school called No.17 Tetra School by the Indian Air Force. You can also fairly take a look at the EME Temple or also known as the “Dakshinamurty Temple“. It is a Shiva Temple which is run by the Indian Army Authorities in the city of Vadodara. It has a unique concept & design, a geodesic structure that is covered with aluminum sheets. It is also said to be a major attraction for both the tourist and the devotees.
There are also a few good other places that you can come across in this city and they very well include the Golf course, Sankheda where you can take a look at the making of the lovely lacquer coated furniture, Champaner which is said to be a UNESCO world heritage site, Fateh Singh museum and much more around this city.

How to Reach
You can travel on the pilgrimage either by train journey or through the airway. Veraval is located fifty or sixty kilometers from Junagadh and you can find regularly running trains to Somnath from such railway station. You can also travel to the holy place from Ahmedabad or Pune because there are a number of direct trains from there. There is also an airway facility in such a place. Rajkot is the nearest airport and you can catch the planes to that place from any corner of India.
