Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan after Jaipur. It is not only big in size in area but also in the number of tourist spots Jodhpur has. Jodhpur sightseeing tour will have various tourist destinations and they will have great stories of history. Rajasthan is called as the land of Kings. The tourist attractions of Jodhpur

Jodhpur has various tourist spots like Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace and Ghanta Ghar. Mehrangarh Fort is counted in the largest forts of India. The Fort has very thick walls. There are 7 very strong Gates to the fort. Umaid Bhawan Palace is also one of the largest private residences. One part of this palace is managed by the Taj Hotels group. It is a Royal Palace. Umaid Bhawan Palace was awarded as the world’s best hotel at the Traveller’s Choice Award by TripAdvisor. Jaswant Thada is a cenotaph. A cenotaph is an Empty tomb which is established while giving honor to a person whose remains are actually somewhere else. It is also possible that there can be e the initial Tomb of a person and he has been reinterred somewhere else. Ghanta Ghar is the clock tower of Rajasthan. It is a huge clock made by Maharaja Sardar Singh.

MEHRANGARH FORT:

The 5 km long majestic fort on a 125 metre high hill is one of the most impressive and formidable structures. Although invincible from the outside, the fort has four gates approached by a winding road. Within the fort are some magnificent palaces with marvelously carved panels, latticed windows and evocative names. Not worthy of these are the Moti Mahal, the Phool Mahal, the Sheesh Mahal, the Sileh Khana and the Daulat Khana. These palaces house a fabulous collection of trappings of Indian royalty including a superb collection of palanquins, elephant hawdahs, miniature paintings of various schools, musical instruments, costumes and furniture.

JASWANT THADA:

Cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble built in 1899 A.D. in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Within the main cenotaph are the portraits of various Jodhpur rulers.

UMAID BHAWAN PALACE:

The only 20th century palace built under the famine relief project that gave employment to famine struck population. The palace was completed in 16 years. This opulent edifice in sandstone is still the residence of the former rulers with a part of it running as hotel and remaining part as a museum.
