The picturesque lake built by Maharana Udai Singh II after they founded the city. Hills, palaces, temples, bathing ghats and embankments, surround this lake.
This is the largest place complex in Rajasthan. A majestic architectural marvel towering over the lake on a hill surrounded by crenellated walls, it is a conglomeration of courtyards, pavilions, terraces, balconies, corridors, and rooms. The main entrance is through the triple-arched gate, the ‘Tripolia’ with eight marble porticos.
Fateh Prakash Palace next door, houses a whimsical side of Udaipur royalty. Check out the fabulous crystal collection of Raja Sajjan Singh. In 1877 the raja ordered a lavish collection of crystal items from abroad. Before it reached him he died and everything was put into storage and later set up on display for tourism purposes. A little further away is the Gallery of Vintage and Classic Cars. Amongst the showpieces is a Rolls Royce Phantom II of 1934 vintage.
This small ornamental garden was a popular relaxing spot where royal ladies came for a stroll and therefore the name. The garden has many fountains in its four delightful pools, chiseled kiosks, and marble elephants.
This is called a Mansoon Palace. Maharana Sajjan Singh built it in the late 19th century. The palace is illuminated at night and from a distance looks like something out of a fairy tale. It also offers a panoramic overview of the city’s lakes, palaces, and the surrounding countryside.
In the evening, you can enjoy the boat ride in Pichola or Fateh Safar Lake.
