Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh has three domestic airports that cater to tourists:

Shimla Airport (Jubbarhatti Airport): Located near Shimla, the state capital. It operates flights from cities like Delhi and Chandigarh.

Kangra Airport (Gaggal Airport): Situated near Dharamshala and Kangra, it serves flights from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chandigarh.

Bhuntar Airport (Kullu-Manali Airport): Located near Kullu and Manali, it operates flights mainly from Delhi and Chandigarh.

Himachal Pradesh is connected to the rest of India through several railway stations, although not all districts have rail access. Some of the major railway stations in Himachal Pradesh include:

Kalka Railway Station: Situated in Haryana, it's the nearest major railway station for reaching Shimla. From Kalka, you can take the famous Kalka-Shimla toy train, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Chandigarh Railway Station: While not in Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh is a major railhead nearby, and many people opt to travel to Himachal Pradesh via Chandigarh. It's well-connected to major cities across India.

Pathankot Railway Station: Located in Punjab, Pathankot is another major railway station nearby, which serves as a gateway to destinations like Dharamshala, McLeod Ganj, and Dalhousie.

Himachal Pradesh has a good network of roads, although the terrain can be challenging in some areas. Major highways and roads connect the state to neighboring regions.

From Delhi: The most common route from Delhi is via NH44 through Chandigarh to Shimla, or via NH44 to Ambala and then NH205 to Manali.

From Chandigarh: Chandigarh serves as a major hub for reaching Himachal Pradesh. From Chandigarh, you can take NH5 to reach Shimla or NH205 to reach destinations like Manali and Dharamshala.

From Pathankot: If you're traveling from the northern plains, you can take NH44 from Pathankot to reach destinations like Dharamshala and Manali.

From Dehradun/Rishikesh (Uttarakhand): If you're coming from Uttarakhand, you can take NH707A, which connects to NH7, to enter Himachal Pradesh.
